Famous Greek Pastitsio









We will need :

big size pasta specialized for pastitsio, if you cand find them just some penne or rigatoni

- 1 kg minced meat half pork half beef (or lamp)
- 3 onions
- 1 packet tomato sauce
- bay leaf
- cinnamon
- olive oil
- salt, pepper
- a tiny  bit of curry powder
- cheese for pasta

So lets start!!!


Cut the onions into small pieces and then sizzle them with olive oil or butter.
Then add all the herbs and after 2 minutes add the minced meat.
When the meat seems cooked put a glass of white wine and put the top of the pan.
After 5 minutes add the tomato sauce.
Let it cook for about half an hour in low fire by adding a 2 glass of water.









Meanwhile boil the pasta for about 10 minutes and have them al dende (not so much cooked)
Take the water down and put them to the baking pan.





Add the minced meat to the top of the pan and then put some cheese on top.




Cover with a thick layer of bechamel sauce and then use some bread crumbs for the end.



Cook it in the oven for 1 hour or 1 and a half in 220 C


Take it out from the oven and wait half hour before you serve it so you can cut beautiful well shaped pieces
